Lack of intimacy in a relationship can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, and emotional distance. It can cause communication breakdowns, low self-esteem and even depression. Intimacy is essential for closeness between partners; however, if this element is missing from the equation, it could have a negative impact on the strength of any relationship.

Rekindling intimacy requires effort on both sides but can be achieved through activities such as listening more closely to each other, communicating effectively, sharing experiences together and engaging in physical touch or affection.

While there is no single answer to restoring intimacy in a relationship, developing an understanding of what your partner may need or desire can certainly go a long way in providing love, support and stability.

Cheating

Extramarital affairs are a fairly obvious cause of divorce. Surprisingly, a lot of married couples have overcome infidelity problems and managed to remain together.

That doesn’t mean you have to take a chance if you’re thinking about leaving the marriage.

The truth is that being unfaithful fundamentally alters your marriage. It damages trust and causes a communication breakdown. Infidelity typically affects you sooner or later, which is why it is one of the main reasons for divorce.

Below are links to Michigan laws regarding divorce. Infidelity and cheating usually carry no legal weight.
